An image of Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar
Directed by Gary English
Scenic Design by Yoshi Tankura
Costume Design by Marija Djordjevic

At the beginning of this production the lighting represented the time and location of each scene. The color and the angle were manipulated to produce dawn, dusk, evening and midday. Starting with the murder of Julius Caesar, the lighting became a representation of political stability. As the political environment deteriorates to chaos the lighting changes from representational to presentational, becoming abstract, stark, and unnatural.
