This was a one woman show written, directed and performed by Nora Cole. Voices We Must Never Forget was the story of the African American heritage and history and the importance of family. The world of the play was not bound by time or place. I saw each scene as a visitation from a spirit of this world where the mere thought of someone could summon them into existence. Using this interpretation as a foundation I lit each scene with a similar warm interior look. To personalize the setting for each scene a specific scenic fabric piece or combination of pieces was highlighted.
